Robert N. Lindahl

Robert N. Lindahl age 87, of Pine Island died on Monday, September 25, 2017 surrounded by family. A memorial service will be on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Pine Island with Pastor Carolyn Westlake officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert Nelson Lindahl was born on August 31, 1930 in Dodge Center, MN to Marvin and Charlotte (nee Langworthy) Lindahl. He grew up in Dodge Center and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1948. Bob started working for the Gamble Robinson Co. On February 4, 1950 he married Lois Rogers at her mother's home in Rochester. They lived in Brownsdale, Rochester and Byron before moving to Pine Island in 1964. In 1957, while working at Gamble Robinson, Bob started farming in rural Byron. After twenty three years at Gamble Robinson, Bob started fulltime farming in 1971. He retired from dairy farming in 1996, sold his machinery the following year and rented out his land. Bob started working part time as a truck driver for Land-O-Lakes and drove school bus for the Pine Island Schools. He fully retired in 2013. Bob served as a delegate for AMPI and also served on the New Haven Township Board from 1974 to 2003. He was a lifelong member of the Island Riders Saddle Club and also a member of the United Methodist Church in Pine Island. Bob enjoyed taking camping trips, riding horse in Nemo, SD, golfing and coffee with his buddies. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning his produce along with learning to cook and bake. He especially enjoyed anything to do with being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his children, Scott (Diane) Lindahl of Pine Island, Deb (Ron) Ruegg of Alexandria and Brian (Kathy) Lindahl of Chino Valley, AZ; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brother, Merwin (Arlys) Lindahl of Dodge Center; sister, Irene (Devon) Conrad of Whitewater, WI and special niece, LuAnn (Richard) Trumble of Virginia Beach, VA.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lois and parents, Marvin and Charlotte Lindahl.

Memorials are preferred to Pine Island Area Home Health Services, Pine Haven Care Center or donor's choice.
