Larry G. Staub, age 72, of Zumbrota died suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Eric Westlake officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 Pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Larry Glenn Staub was born on September 21, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Glenn E. and Phyllis K. (nee Wendt) Staub. He grew up in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota. In the early 1960's, Larry served in the National Guard. He started driving semi for Wonderbread in 1978. On December 2, 1978 he married Rosella A. (Marquardt) Atkinson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They made their home in Zumbrota, where Rosella worked as a waitress for the Covered Bridge Restaurant and over the years Larry drove semi for Lawrence Transporation and Wilson Refrigerated Express. Larry drove semi for over forty five years. He also worked part-time as a security guard at S.B. Foot Tanning Co. in Red Wing. Larry enjoyed his cats, mowing the yard and tinkering. Larry is survived by his wife, Rosella; daughter, Sherrie (Staub) Turcotte; step-children, Robert (Kristen) Atkinson of Savage and Rita Prather of Palm Gardens, FL; grandchildren, Brian, Kalley and Chloe Atkinson; sister, Sherry Nesheim of Minneapolis. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kevin Staub.
