Yvonne Jean (McMullin) Thimijan

Yvonne Jean (McMullin) Thimijan of Red Wing, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020 at the Lake City Care Center.  She was born on December 30, 1928 to Clifford and Edna (Brunkhorst) McMullin.  As a life-long resident, she attended Colvill grade school and graduated from Central High.

Yvonne married John Thimijan on May 12, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Wing where she was baptized, confirmed and a member her entire life.  She served her church in many ways including United Methodist Women, Church Treasurer for many years, handcrafters and was the annual rummage sale cashier.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends as well as traveling.  In addition to many family camping trips, she and John visited Europe three times, Hawaii twice and Alaska and went on many bus tours throughout the United States.  Yvonne also enjoyed knitting, eating out, shopping at Costco, playing cards--especially hand and foot, with her friends at the Plaza as well as all the outings Lola took them on.

Yvonne was employed by Norman Tollison at State Farm Insurance (where she met John), then Wilson Hardware and finally retiring as a bookkeeper from Corner Drug.

Yvonne volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, Brownie & Girl Scout leader, transported cancer patients to appointments, and worked at the local food shelf.

Yvonne will be dearly missed.  She is survived by her son Wayne (Patty), daughter Jean (Jeff), grandson Ryan, granddaughter Sarah (Amel), great-granddaughters Kallie, Everli, Leja and Thea, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband John.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
