William Bernard Koob, age 77, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at St. Brigid?s at Hi Park. He was born July 29, 1928 in Minneapolis to Charles and Susan (Westfield) Koob. He attended South High School in Minneapolis. On January 15, 1946, he joined the US Navy and later the US Naval Air Reserves and served for three enlistments, being honorably discharged on February 6, 1958. He was married several times; Ethelyn Berglund, his first wife, was the mother of his children. He ran a taxi service in Red Wing for many years and later was a volunteer driver for those needing rides to medical appointments. He was very active in the local area food shelf and Toys For Tots. He had also been a past Boy Scout Leader for many years in St. Louis Park. He is survived by 4 children, Daniel (Joan) Koob of Hastings, Timothy Koob, Janet Koob both of Red Wing and Thomas (Candy) Koob of St. Louis Park; 15 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Robert and one sister, Sharon. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
