William Burgess

William Charles Burgess, 85, Red Wing, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul, Mn. He was born August 30, 1926 in Pierce County, Wi., the son of Jess and Esther (Miles) Burgess. He attended school in Diamond Bluff, Wi. He married Evelyn "Chubb" McHone on July 5, 1947 in Red Wing. He worked at Red Wing Pottery for 23 years and then for the Red Wing School District for 22 years as a custodian. Evelyn died November 19, 1991. He was a member of Red Wing Collectors Society and over the years, he enjoyed attending auctions where he would buy, sell and collect Red Wing Pottery, safes, oak furniture and antiques. He also enjoyed traveling and meeting with his friends at Randy's Restaurant.

Survivors include his friends: Jackie McKinley and Kathryn & David Christensen, all of Red Wing; and other friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn.

Funeral service will be at 1 p. m. Monday, October 17, 2011, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011, at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
