William N. "Bill" Bach 83, of Red Wing died peacefully at home on September 21, 2019. He was born on November 3, 1935 in Red Wing, Minnesota to William and Dagny (Nielsen) Bach. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1953. Upon graduation, Bill followed his father's footsteps and embarked on a career at S.B. Foot Tanning. He would go on to work there for 45 years. On April 11, 1980, Bill married Audrey (Place) Ide who was his loving wife until the time of his death.
Bill was an active member of United Lutheran Church where he was a member of the men's cooking team. Bill loved hunting, fishing, riding horses, and traveling out West to Medora and to Branson. His business card upon retirement said, Have Camper - Will Camp, Have Boat - Will Fish, Have Guns - Will Hunt, Have Horse - Will Ride, and Have Car - Will Travel.
Bill is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughter, Christine (Jeff) DeJoy of Coon Rapids; son, Robert Bach of Red Wing; step-children, Jody (Eric) Eckberg of Bloomington, Kevin (Connie) Ide of Red Wing and Kerry Ide of Inver grove Heights. He is also survived by his brother, Vern Bach of Chanhassen. He had 8 grandchildren, Melissa (Fred), Casey, Katie (Derek), Anna (Josh), Allison, AJ, Samantha and Emma and 8 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Allen and his sister Barbara Wadley.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association, Red Wing Wildlife League or donor's choice.
