William "Bill" Richard Anderson, 72, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born May 29, 1939 in Red Wing to Allen and Laura (Carlon) Anderson. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1957 and then served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam Conflict as a medical transcriber. On September 7, 1963, he married LouAnn Rusch at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing. For a number of years he worked at LaGrange Shoe and then at the Red Wing Shoe Company before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph. He enjoyed rosemaling, reading, gardening and dancing. He also enjoyed feeding birds and spending time with his dog, Betsy. His family was very important to him and they fondly remember the times they had at Gary and Robin's cabin at Longville, Minnesota.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 49 years, LouAnn, one daughter Robin (Gary) Wedrickas of Red Wing; two grandsons, Alan and John Wedrickas of Red Wing; one sister, Bette Blattner of Red Wing; two sisters-in-law, Lois Anderson of Huntington Beach, CA and Leanell Rusch of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Allen "Whitey" and Robert Anderson.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Saturday January, 28, 2012 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. Pallbearers will be Doug Dankers, Steve Diercks, David Haase, Gary Markham, Clem Nardinger and Keith Nardinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Wedrickas, John Wedrickas and Kim Wehling. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred to the church.
