Willene A. "Billie" Axelson age 78 of Wanamingo, MN died on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the home of David and Jennifer Sanneman. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Reverend Byron officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Welch. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 5:00 � 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Willene Ann Dulluhn was born on August 5, 1929 in West St. Paul, MN to William and Elsie (nee Gerth) Dulluhn. She grew up in West St. Paul and graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1947. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and received her nursing degree in 1950 from Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. On May 6, 1950 she married Kenneth Axelson. She lived most of her life in Wanamingo and worked for thirty three years as a nurse for Dr. William Walter. Billie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and an active member of the Quamme VFW Post #186 Auxiliary, where served as treasurer for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing the piano, cross stitching, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. Willene is survived by her husband Ken, three sons, Larry Axelson of Wanamingo, Dale (Sheri) Axelson of Pukalani, HI, and Jon (Lupe) Axelson of Yorkville, IL; three daughters, Beth (Steve) Weisbecker of Mankato, Bonnie (Paul) Peterson of Brainerd and Jennifer (David) Sanneman of Byron, thirteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harvey Dulluhn and one sister, Norma Lindstrom. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Sarah Collins, Kellie and Kyle Bunnell, Scott Axelson and Nick and Blake Sanneman.
