Wilfred Raymond Wilson

Wilfred "Willie" Raymond Wilson, age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 28th, 2010, in his home at Deercrest in Red Wing. He was born on September 16th, 1916, in Kettle River, MN to Frank and Hilda (Martilla) Wilson. He attended Dunwoody Institute and was employed by W.H.Barber. In 1944 he moved to Red Wing as an agent for Sterling Oil. In 1952 he founded Wilson Oil Company, and was a jobber for Pure Oil Company, until his semi-retirement in 1980; he headed up the maintenance department of Wilson Oil Company until 2008. He was a past president of the Minnesota Petroleum Association and the Red Wing Lion's Club. He was a past member of the Red Wing Saddle Club, Sons of Norway and the Red Wing Yacht Club. He was a member of United Lutheran Church.
Willie is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret (Paulson) Wilson, his children Carolyn Wilson Anderson, Martin (Gretchen), Robert (Susan Ryan), George and Mike (Jeannette) Wilson, his sister Helen Holm, 8 grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Kathryn (Marc) Cohen, Wylie (Jennifer), Justin and Mathew (Marni) Wilson, Amanda Bush, Asheley Wilson and Marisa (Jason) Dille, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 6th at United Lutheran Church, Red Wing. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5th at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Yacht Club, P.O. Box 546, Red Wing or the Goodhue County Historical Society, 1166 Oak St., Red Wing.
