Wilbur C. Lindstrom, 87, of Red Wing, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born in Vasa Township on February 13, 1922, the son of Frank and Hilma (Anderson) Lindstrom. Wilbur graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1940. He married Frances Swanson on June 8, 1944 in Vasa. He drove milk truck for a few years before starting a 35 year career working as a steam engineer for SB Foot Tanning Company. In his off hours he drove the school bus for the Fredrickson Bus Company in Vasa, transporting the students for the Vasa school. Wilbur was a lifelong member of the Vasa Lutheran Church and resided in the Vasa community until he and Frances moved to Red Wing's Villa at Hi-Park in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Jerry (Marcy) Lindstrom of Bloomington; granddaughters, Kathy (Doug) Anderson of Richfield and Karen (Mischa) Philleo of Saint Germain-en-Laye, France; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Nicole Anderson and Jack and Lily Philleo and his special friend, Esther Lamontagne of Milton, FL. He was preceded in death by Frances, his wife of 55 years, and five brothers, Alvin, Lloyd, Howard, Chester and Kenneth.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vasa Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Dobbins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
