Wilbert Clarence Rieck, 88, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at Fairview Seminary Home where he has resided for the past year. He was born on March 14, 1922, in Red Wing to Albert and Annie (Hinck) Rieck. He attended rural schools in Florence Township. On May 14, 1950 he married Irene Santelman at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Rev. Walter Voigt officiating. From 1948 to 1966 he worked on the Hauschildt Brothers farm. In 1968 he and Irene moved to Red Wing where he worked for Super Valu as a meat cutter until the age of 82 when he retired. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac. He enjoyed baseball, softball, gardening, playing cards and traveling with Irene to all 48 states on motorcoach tours.

Survivors include his wife Irene; two daughters, Vicky (John) Tripp of Northfield and Gayle (Steven) Noakes of Savage and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Walter.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Reverend Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
