Wilbert "Bill" Petroff

Wilbert Junior "Bill" Petroff, 77, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home. He was born March 14, 1938 in Red Wing to Clara Petroff and he grew up in the Wabasha-Kellogg area. He served in US Army for a short time. He married Janet Ritchie and they later divorced. He worked various jobs throughout the United States and in 1969 he moved back to the Wabasha-Kellogg area. He married Mary Wooding on April 24, 1970 and they moved to Red Wing. He worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company for 33 years retiring in 2003. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, stock car races and was a great handyman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Catherine (Richard) Kilen, Lisa (Michael) Schmidt, Stephen (Elizabeth) Petroff, Charles Ritchie and Heather Petroff; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; three siblings, Merlin (Marion) Schultz, Walter (Buni) and Ernest (Judy) Lillie and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; one daughter, Tara; two brothers, Ronald and John and one sister, Julie Moore.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Wing with the Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
