Weston C. "Wes" Lemmerman age 72 of Zumbrota died on Monday, February 02, 2009 at the Rochester Methodist Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 Am at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 4:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home- Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Weston Clarence Lemmerman was born on April 22, 1936 in Rochester, MN to Clarence H. and Mabel L. (nee Ferber) Lemmerman. He grew up in Mazeppa, where he belonged to the Boy Scouts and attended Mazeppa Schools. At age sixteen he started working for his father in the trucking industry. They hauled milk to the Mazeppa Creamery, general freight, sand and lumber. On July 6, 1956 he married Sharon E. Erstad in Zumbrota. They made their home in Mazeppa. In 1965 Wes started driving truck for Al Koenig at International Transport. In 1967 Al bought Midwest Harvestore Transport which became Midwest Specialized Transportation. Wes helped pick the new colors for the company, admiralty blue and white. In 1970 Wes hauled Apollo 11 from Des Moines, IA to St. Paul as the space capsule visited all fifty state capitols. In later years Wes went completely independent, taking over his Dad's authority and operating as Lemmerman Trucking, hauling feed and grain products in southern Minnesota and surrounding states. In 1983 Wes moved the business to Zumbrota, which he operated with his wife and son, Terry. Wes stayed active in the trucking industry up until his death. Wes had served as President of the Mazeppa Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Antique Truck Historical Society where he was awarded the Golden Achievement Award. He also received the Million Mile Award from the Great West Insurance Company for safe driving. Wes is survived by his wife Sharon, one son, Terry (Bonnie) Lemmerman of Zumbrota, granddaughters, great grandchildren, two sisters, Clarice (Harold) Oelkers of Pine Island and Gloria Lemmerman of Inver Grove Heights and one brother David (Patty) Lemmerman of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Casketbearers are Wes Siegersma, Keith Pyfferoen, Adam Pyfferoen, Bob Samuelson, Marc Sears and Lyle Hinrichs, Honorary bearers are Chuck Finn, John Young, Sam Brown, Harold Tiedemann, Al Koenig, Clyde Hinrichs and Lyle Severson.
