Wayne Howard Somerville, 91, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010 at his home. He was born January 31, 1919 in Raymond, Minnesota to Earl, Sr. and Edith (Hultgren) Somerville. He graduated from Raymond High School and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to WWII. He married Doris Wood and they later divorced. He had worked various jobs, including watch repair, a job of his father's trade. He married Lois Roberts on March 1, 1964, at the Little Brown Church in Iowa and they lived in Lake City. He enjoyed metal detecting, collecting farm toys, listening to music, reading books and bible study.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Lake City; two sons, Mark (Bev) Somerville of El Dorado, Kansas and Steve (Diane) Somerville of Hastings, MN; 3 step-sons, Nathan (Shirley) Roberts of Lake City, Dan Roberts of The Woodlands, Texas and Rick (Peggy) Roberts of League City, Texas; step-daughter, Patricia "Patti" Roberts of Lake City; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one cousin, Merrill Chesebrough of LeRoy, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl, Jr.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Valley View Assembly of God Church, Lake City. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jon and Steven Somerville, Chris, Nathan and Rick Roberts and Steve Moss. Honorary pallbearers will be Missy Somerville, Wendy Arndt, Julie Moss, Rachael Lehmann, Tina Rauth and Rachel Vaughters. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
