Wayne F. Henslin, age 86, of Zumbrota died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Eric Westlake officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Military Honors provided by both the Wanamingo and Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guards. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 6:00�8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home�Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wayne Frederick Henslin was born on September 25, 1921 in Dodge Center, MN to Walter and Ruth E. (nee Kent) Henslin. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Dodge Center. Wayne graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1939. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp on October 1, 1942, served in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II and was honorably discharged on November 1, 1945. After his discharge he returned to the Dodge Center area and later he moved to Zumbro Falls and farmed with his brothers. On September 16, 1952 he married Marlys Adams in Lake City. Following their marriage the couple farmed in rural Zumbro Falls until 1956 when they moved to Rochester. Wayne was employed by the City of Rochester for three years. In 1959 Wayne and Marlys and their three small children moved to a farm they had purchased in rural Wanamingo. He continued to work for the City of Rochester for one year and later at Libby's while farming his 40 acre farm. Wayne bought and sold cattle and scrap iron. Wayne and Marlys moved to another farm in 1978 and in 1993 they moved to Zumbrota. Wayne was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran church. He enjoyed going to auctions, antiques � especially clocks, old tractors and machinery. Wayne enjoyed being a cattle jockey, watching the cattle market, having coffee with his friends at the Zumbrota Sales barn and farming with his son, Craig. He loved people and could talk and joke with anyone. He enjoyed many trips with his family to Wall Drug, SD and Florida and driving the country side and having lunch out with Marlys. His real passion was driving in his black pick-up looking at the crops. Wayne is survived by his wife, Marlys, two daughters, Cheryl (Bruce) Steege of Zumbrota and Chan (Ken) Jacobson of Wanamingo; one son, Craig (Deb) Henslin of Wanamingo; six grandchildren, Amber (Jon) Haselman, Jenna Steege, Jake (Jen) Jacobson, Heather (Adam) Schuster, Wayne Henslin and Bill Henslin; three great grandchildren, Kenny and Blake Jacobson and Chloe Schuster; one brother Raymond (Helen) Henslin of Yulee, Florida; two sisters, Verna Rittgers of Glendora, California and Viola Silbert, of Des Plaines, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth; one brother, Edwin and one grandson Walter Henslin.

Casketbearers are Jake Jacobson, Heather Schuster, Amber Haselman, Jenna Stegge, Wayne Henslin and Bill Henslin. Honorary bearers are Jen Jacobson, Adam Schuster, Jon Haselman, Kenny Jacobson, Blake Jacobson and Chloe Schuster.

Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Faribault Area District One Hospital Hospice or donor's choice.
