Wayne W. Arendt age 73 of Mazeppa died on Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Wayne William Arendt was born on December 1, 1936 in Red Wing, MN to Rheinhart and Alice (nee Betcher) Arendt. He grew up in the Mazeppa area, attended Mazeppa schools where he was the manager for the basketball team and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1955. Wayne worked as an electrician for Gregoire Electric in Mazeppa and Gusa Electric in Elgin. On October 20, 1962 he married Clara Siewert at Grace Lutheran Church in Millville. Wayne continued working as an electrician for Rostad Electric in Zumbrota and in 1975 started and operated Wayne's Electric in Mazeppa until health problems in 2009 forced his retirement. Wayne worked as an electrician for over fifty years and was active in Mazeppa, serving on the City Council, volunteering with the Mazeppa Lions Club and being a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Wayne enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, and visiting with people.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Clara; two daughters, Lynn (Rusty) Jackson of Pine Island and Donna (Douglas) Arendt-Counter of Bellechester; three grandchildren, Angela (Dennis) Burdick of Mazeppa, Amber Jackson and Adam Jackson, both of Pine Island; one great grandson; Riley Burdick of Mazeppa; one brother, Ernest (Vicki) Arendt and one sister, Carol (James) Glander, all of Mazeppa; sister-in-law, Sue Arendt of Mazeppa and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Rheinhart and Alice; brother, Gary Arendt and nephew, Darren Arendt.
