Walter Erwin Danckwart, age 93, of Lake City passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health System of Lake City.
Walter was born June 7, 1920 to George and Clara (Bremer) Danckwart in Lake City, MN. He grew up in Lake City, attending rural schools and graduated from Agriculture School at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus. He married Annetta Yotter on September 30, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. They farmed in West Albany Township for 43 years and he also worked at Di-Acro for 17 years until their closing. Walter was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Treasurer of the Oak Center Creamery, Soil Conservation, Vice President of AAL, and was a woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Annetta of Lake City; two sons, Ronald of Lake City and Daniel (Teri) of Minneapolis, MN; 2 grandchildren, Katie Danckwart and Shavon Anderson and 3 great-grandchildren, Kylee Burr,Drake and Garrett Anderson, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Anderson-Peterson Chapel and again on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City at a later date. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is handling the arrangements.
