Walter Buchholtz

Walter Buchholtz, age 95, of Goodhue died on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday March 4, 2011 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue with the Reverend Mike Gustafson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Goodhue.
Walter Buchholtz was born on July 6, 1915 in Goodhue to John Henry and Marie (Banidt) Buchholtz. He grew up on the family farm near Goodhue, attended Goodhue schools, and farmed all of his working years. On October 28, 1941 he married Grace Thompson in Zumbrota. He retired from farming in 1985 and resided in Goodhue. Grace preceded Walter in death on October 1, 2004.
Walter enjoyed being outdoors, which included: farming, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking. Walter's later years were spent driving his pickup truck, eating out, and watching traffic. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue.
Walter is survived by his grandchildren, Brendon Buchholtz of Carlton, OR, Marisa (Matthew) Scagnelli of West Chester, OH, and Karina Buchholtz of Tualatin, OR; great grandson, Donovan; daughter-in-law, Jolene (Harold) Kuehne of Carlton, OR; niece, Doris Hansen of Rochester; nephew, Neil Jonas of Wanamingo; local cousins, Elda Fossum, Bob Fossum, and Sue Sands. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace; his children, Betty Thompson and Roger Buchholtz; and two sisters, Lenora Jonas and Margaret Johnson.
