Wallace Howard Jagusch, 86, of Red Wing, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was born on March 13, 1924, in Red Wing to John and Adeline (Grasmoen). He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1942 and then served in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1946. Following his discharge he attended the University of Minnesota from 1947 to 1948. On November 7, 1953 he was married to Dorothy Kolberg at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. He was a partner in the marine service at Red Wing Bay and owner of Colvill Marina during the 1950's. He also worked as a police officer for several years during the same time. In 1954 he started Twin Bluff Realty which he owned until 1968 when he sold it to Neal Siewert along with the Gladstone Building. In December 1968 he took over as the Veterans Service Officer for Goodhue County for 13 years. He then was a salesman for Knapp Redi-mix, later Cemstone, and then before he retired worked night security for Ole Miss Marina. In the 1960's he served as a councilman for Ward 1 for the City of Red Wing. He was a member of United Lutheran Church where he helped on the men's cooking team, the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW#1218, DAV and the Purple Heart Chapter #1977, which he helped charter. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Red Wing and past member of the Zuhrah Shrine of Minneapolis. He served as department chief for the State of Minnesota DAV and was judge advocate for the State of Minnesota Purple Heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, boating and being in the outdoors. His family recalls his love for being out on the farm in Flower Valley where they had a tree farm and also had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful green valley and own a spring fed pond they enjoy catching brook trout.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two children, Miles (Marsha) Jagusch of Rochester and Kari Jagusch of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Sydney (Ryan) Frank, Bekken Jagusch and Carson Koehnen along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma Bang; one brother, Robert "Bud" Jagusch and one grandson, Brand Jagusch.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel.
