Wallace Vernon Engrav, 89, of Red Wing, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Villa at Hi-Park. He was born April 3, 1925, in Peterson, Minnesota to Carl and Elida (Olson) Engrave and graduated from high school there in 1944. For over 16 years, he worked for a car dealership in Rushford. He was united in marriage to Alice (Peterson) Rhude on Sept. 24, 1966 in LaCrosse and they lived in Red Wing. He was employed at Jorgenson's as a parts manager for 33 years until his retirement. He continued to work until he was 85, driving cars and scheduling pick-ups for the dealership. He was a member of United Lutheran Church and the Red Wing Elks Lodge BPOE #845. He enjoyed traveling, driving and going to his early morning breakfast group at Bev's and the Whistle Stop.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; a step-son, Edward (Mary) Rhude of Spicer; 2 step-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Todd) Reiman of Minnetonka and Scott Rhude of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank and a sister, Audrey Overland.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to United Lutheran Church or St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.
