Vivian A. Walker, age 98 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center. Vivian was born on April 9, 1914 in Welcome, MN to Clinton and Emma (Johnson) Eastman. She grew up in the Mapleton area and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1933. After graduation, she went to cosmetology school in Minneapolis. She married Kenneth Walker on August 6, 1935 in Mankato. Vivian was a nursing assistant at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel for 18 years. In 1980, they moved to Lake City. Kenneth died on November 11, 1980. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, handwork and flowers. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in many church groups there, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed her Birthday Celebrations.
Vivian is survived by four children, Quentin Walker of Miles City, MT, Carmen (Ron) Steinberg of Waterville, MN, Thomas (Pat) Walker of Englewood, OH, and Terrance (Karen) Walker of Lake City, MN; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; and two sister-in-laws, Lois Somerville and Francis Walker of Lake City.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Walker; one son, Royce Walker; two brothers, Wendell and Kenneth Eastman; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Walker; and one great grandson, Shawn Walker.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 24 at 10:00 AM at the Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City with Rev. Don Still officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Burial will be at Morrow Cemetery in Mapleton, MN. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
