Vivian M. Nord, 79, of Zumbrota died Friday, August 13, 2010 at her daughter's home in Plainview, from complications of a stroke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Susan Vikstrom officiating. Friends may call from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Zumbrota cemetery.
Vivian Marie Nord was born January 7, 1931 in Wanamingo, MN to Arne and Githa (Lexvold) Stockmo. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1949. After graduating from Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN she worked for Hansord Pontiac and Standard Oil.
On May 26, 1951 she married Chester Nord in Wanamingo. They farmed in rural Zumbrota until 1973. In 1974 they bought the International Harvester Dealership in Zumbrota. She worked for Nord Implement until retiring in 1985.
She volunteered for many years with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and her church, and was a life member of the Zumbrota VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed china painting, golfing, traveling, sports, flower gardening, birdwatching and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Chester, sons Bradley (Cheryl) Nord and Michael (Sandi) Nord of Zumbrota. Daughters Teresa (Daniel) Grantham of Hartfield, Virginia and Tamara (Steve) Sawyer of Plainview, MN, 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her sister, Lorraine Hoven of Richmond, Virginia, her brother, Roger "Pug" (Bonnie) Stockmo of Eagan, MN and her sister JoAnn (Walter) Ring of Zumbrota.
She was preceded in death by her son Jon Nord, her sister Arlene Stockmo and her parents, Arnie and Githa Stockmo.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Michael, Adam, and Derek Nord, Jacob and Cole McWaters, Dustin and Ryan Sawyer, and granddaughters Angie and Naomi Nord.
