Vivian Clarissa Marcella Thoreson Mock, age 100, formerly of Red Wing, died on Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Naperville, Illinois.

She was born on May 27, 1907 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Magnus
and Annette (Tweito)Thoreson. Vivian was baptized at home on the day of her birth. When she was seven, her family moved to Goodridge, Minnesota. She was confirmed on July 9, 1922 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. As a young girl, she began taking piano lessons and played the organ for many local congregations. She graduated from Goodridge High School and later attended St. Olaf College where she majored in music. Vivian married Reverend Alfred F. Mock on June 1, 1930, in Goodridge. While raising eight children, she moved with her husband as he served many congregations including Goodridge, Rapidan, Wykoff and Hay Creek, Minnesota. During this time, she served as a church organist at Goodridge Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran Church in Wykoff, Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek; and began giving piano lessons. After her husband's death in 1956, Vivian moved to Red Wing, Minnesota. While living in Red Wing, Vivian supported her family by giving piano and organ lessons at home and in area schools in Gully, Thief River Falls, Wykoff, Goodhue, Belvidere, and Hay Creek, MN. She was a member of the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, National Piano Teachers Guild, Minnesota Music Teacher's Association and a charter member of the Music Teachers Keyboard Club of Red Wing. In 1997, Vivian moved to Plainfield, Illinois to live with her daughter, Debbie. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville, Illinois.

Survivors include daughters, Eunice Kohlmeyer of Oronoco, Minnesota, Deborah (Bill) Kokaska of Plainfield, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Susan Mock of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; sons, David (Nancy) Mock of Portland, Oregon, Phillip Mock of Phoenix, Arizona and Herbert (Eunice) Mock of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Eunice Younger of Scottsdale, Arizona;18 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grand children and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, The Rev. A. F. Mock; daughters, Dorothy Mock and Lois Tervo; son, Alfred "Fred" Mock; son-in- law, Walter Kohlmeyer; and sister, Hazel Kaercher.

Funeral will be 1:00 pm Saturday, July 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek with Reverends Lowell Sorenson and Victor Meyr officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ron Kohlmeyer, Dan Kohlmeyer, Jason Kokaska, Jeff Mock, William Tervo, Trace Tervo, Aaron Mock and Joshua Mock and honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Annette Krohg, Angela Kundert, Melissa Norton, Leslie Mock, Kandy Hummel, Debbie Mock, Kathy Huxtable,
Ginny Mock, Dani Tervo and Stacey Felice.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Hour and Worship for Shut-ins. Condolences for the family may be sent to Debbie Kokaska, 25004 Ambrose Rd, Plainfield, IL 60585. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
