ROCHESTER ? The funeral for Virginia Berg will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the People of Hope Church with Rev. Gary Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery in Pine Island. Mrs. Berg, 73, of Rochester, died Jan. 31, 2007 at Madonna Meadows, after a brief illness with Cancer. Virginia Lou Gordon was born May 11, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisc. She was raised and graduated from High School there. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carthage College and then worked as a food supervisor at Marshall Fields in Chicago. On Oct. 5, 1957 she married Robert Berg in St. Charles, IL. The couple moved to the Mazeppa area living on a farm south of Mazeppa. Her husband farmed and was employed at IBM, he died in 1979. She worked at Olmsted Medical Group, and then was a homemaker until going to work as a Food Service Supervisor for Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. She purchased the Nutrition Shop at Apache Mall in 1987 and retired in 2006. She was a charter member of the People of Hope Church in Rochester and was instrumental in finding the land and building of the church. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed her dogs and gardening. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Paul Fleischner) Berg of Scottsdale, AZ; Mindy Berg of Minneapolis; and Holly (Joshua) Tully of Fountain Hills, AZ; two sons, Tom (Chris) of St. Louis, MO; and Bill (Gloria) of Mazeppa; six grandchildren; two sisters, Julie (Keith Dahl) Gordon of Minneapolis, and Judy Gordon of Oak Park, IL; and her brother Lewis (Fran) Gordon of Elgin, IL. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the People of Hope Church and also one hour before the service on Friday.Memorials are suggested to the People of Hope Church.
