Virginia Anderson, age 91, of Lake City passed away at home Tuesday, March 15, 2016. She was born on October 28, 1924 in Red Wing, MN to Walter and Ruth (Olson) Nelson. She graduated in 1943 from Prescott High School. She moved to California where she worked in an ammunition plant during WW II.
She married Herbert Anderson on June 7, 1947 in Red Wing. They lived in Lake City. She worked at JC Penny and was a secretary for Dr. Bowers and Dr. Gjerde in Lake City. Virginia was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. She also served on the church Ladies Aide as President and as Vice President. She served as an election judge for 27 years. She enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing.
She is survived by son, Gregory (Pam) Anderson of Lake City; 3 sisters, Alvina (Roger) Girdeen of Ellsworth, WI, Delores Alcorn, Spring Valley, CA, Beverly (Don) Melstrom, Durand, WI, sister-in-law Dorothy Anderson, Lake City, and brother-in-law Robert Bradford, Zephyr, TX. She is preceded in death by husband, Herbert; sisters, Madelyn Glem, Geneva Siepelmeyer, Davney Pasch, Dorene Bradford; and brother, Clifford Nelson.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
