Violette J. Haessig Huettl age 91 of Lake City passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Lake City Nursing Home.

Violette was born January 10, 1917 in rural Zumbro Falls, MN to Richard H. & Johanna M. (Klindworth) Gerken. She attended school in Zumbro Falls and graduated from Mazeppa High School. She worked at the Silver Sail, Terrace Supper Club, and Selck Clothing Store. In 1932 she married Guy V. Haessig at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. He died in 1967. In 1972 she married James M. Huettl in Lake City. He died in 2003.

Vi was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, their Ladies Aid, Lake City Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Lake City Country Club. She had also been a Camp Fire Girls leader. Violette enjoyed fishing, golf, playing cards and crafts.

Vi is survived by 2 daughters, Carole Mutzebaugh (John Bieg) of Colorado Springs, CO, Judy (Morris) Platte of Lake City; a son, John (Sally) Haessig of Stevens Point, WI; two step-sons, H. James (Cheryl) Huettl of Lake City, Michael (Cathy) Huettl of Eau Claire, WI; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, two great great grandchild; one brother Richard J. (Eleanor) Gerken of Zumbro Falls. She was preceded in death by her husbands and a sister Dorothea Springer of Millville, MN.

A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to The Friends of the Lake City Library.
