Violet Stinson, 94, of Lake City, MN passed away on November 13, 2022 at Deer Crest Assisted Living in Red Wing, MN.
Violet was born on August 21, 1928, in Chester, NE. to Henry and Martha (Schmidt) Hobelman. She graduated from Wymore High School in Wymore, NE. Violet Hobelman met Bruce Stinson in Kansas City while she was in nurses training and he was in radio school. Violet and Bruce married December 12, 1949 in Leesburg, FL where they lived for a short time. In 1950 they moved to Bloomington. In 1978, they moved to Lake City where they purchased a farm in rural Lake City. They along with their son Charles established the apple orchard which was known as Oak Ridge Orchard. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City. She loved to sing in the church choir and play the piano. Violet enjoyed gardening and was a seamstress.
Violet is survived by her six children, Judith Pedersen of Lake Elmo, MN., Jeanette (Jeff) Meidal of Savage, MN, Charles (Cathy) Stinson of Lake City, Gary (Jean) Stinson of Davenport, IA, Susan (Eric) Anderson of Grand Marais, MN., Paul Stinson of Coon Rapids, MN; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Judy Swenson, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; 2 brothers, Walter and Clarence; son in law, Bernard Pederson; daughter in law, Shirley Stinson.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
