OBITUARY: Viola W. Jensen Memorial services for Viola W. Jensen will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Rochester Chapel with Lay Pastor Claire Vomhof officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Manning Cemetery in Vernon County, WI. Viola, age 94, of Rochester, died on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Country Care Adult Foster Care in Byron. She was born Viola Winifred Harris on May 1, 1911 in Strool, SD to Guy and Mertie (Kast) Harris. She attended country school in Viola, WI then attended Vernon County Normal School to get her teachers certificate. Viola taught school in Vernon County until she married Fred C. Jensen on April 30, 1933 in Strool, SD. The couple farmed in SD and WI before moving to Baraboo, WI in 1954. She had various jobs and volunteer positions including 4-H leader and teacher?s aide. Fred died in 1983. In 1994, Viola moved to Florida to be closer to family, then in 2001 she moved to Indiana with family and on to Rochester in 2005. She loved to read and garden. Viola is survived by three sons: Darrel Jensen, of Logansport, IN, and Fred Jensen, of Rochester, MN, Kevin Jensen, of Windsor, WI; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; four sisters: Florence Swiggum, of Blair, WI, Lois Fortney, of Viroqua, WI, Bonnie Smith, of La Crosse, WI, Phyllis Hagen, of Woodbury, MN; one brother, Elwin Harris, of Wausau, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter, Beverly Patterson, and one son, Steven Jensen. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM on Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Rochester Chapel. Memorials may be given to ALS Research.
