Vincent A. Peters, 77 of Laporte, formerly of Lake City, Died September 10, 2014 in Laporte, Minnesota. He was born on December 23, 1936 in Lake City, Minnesota, son of Adolph and Margaret (Sprick) Peters. Vincent enjoyed growing up and working on their family farm, and would assist the other farmers in the area whenever they needed help. When his parents sold the farm, his family moved into Lake City. Vincent made his career working for Bud Meyer Trucking for 8 years, serving as a handyman at Waterman's when they opened and eventually started Tacos on Tuesdays, and he also worked for the city of Lake city from 2000 until 2010 in the streets and parks department. He was a very active part of St. John's Lutheran Church as a member and custodian. He also spent much of his time helping with Water Ski Days and in 2005, Vincent served as the Grand Marshal. He was a member of the Sportsman's club. Out of all the things Vincent enjoyed, spending time with family and friends and helping whenever he was needed was his favorite hobby.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen (Jerry) Benedix of Laporte, MN, a brother Curtis Peters of Caramel, IN, nieces Brenda (Jeff) Holland of Laporte, MN, Michele (Cy) Ross of Fort Riley, KS, nephews John (Joan) Miller of Laporte, MN, Chris Miller of Red Wing, MN, great nieces and nephews.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Margaret Peters; sister in law, Sherry Peters; and his aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Donor's Choice. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
