Verona Emma Luhman, 96, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born April 25, 1914 to Henry and Bertha (Stumpf) Ehlen in Featherstone Township. In 1934 she graduated from Red Wing High School. Verona married Milton Luhman on June 1, 1942 at Immanuel Hay Creek Lutheran Church. They farmed in rural Goodhue until Milton died on March 2, 1972. She then lived in Zumbrota for ten years where she volunteered at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. Verona later moved to Red Wing, living at the Seminary Plaza, St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Villa, and most recently at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Care Center. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Goodhue and their Ladies Aide group. She enjoyed hosting birthday parties, playing the piano, flowers, and her dogs.
She is survived by two nieces, Rosemary (Paul) Miller of Pine Island and Enid (Jeff) Reames of Bay City, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; an infant child, and a brother, Oral Ehlen.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Andrew Krause officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church. Arrangements by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
