Verona C Bargsten

Verona Bargsten age 90, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Lake City Care Center. She was born January 18, 1924 in Florence Township to William and Dorthea (Roper) Witt and grew up and attended rural school there. She then attended the school of agriculture at the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Erwin Bargsten on June 9, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Florence. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed in Hay Creek Township and Belvidere Township for many years. They moved to Lake City in 1997. She enjoyed gardening and also an avid bird lover and seeded appreciation for future generations of cooking and enjoying good food. She also loved spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by three sons, Dale (Beth) of Corvallis, OR, Stephen (Carol) of Stillwater, MN, and Stanley (Denise) of Lake City; one daughter, Nancy Bargsten of Chisago City, MN; six grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Witt of Washington, LaVern (Phyllis) Witt of Lake City, Glen of Arizona; four sister, Irene Peper of Lake City, Elaine Kaehler of Minnetonka, Shirley (Wallace) Klovstad of AZ and Janice (John) Campe of MN.
Verona was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Erwin.
Memorial service will be Saturday March 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church Frontenac with the Rev. Stephen Kurtzahn officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 at the church on Saturday. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Lake City at a later date.
