Vernon George Reeck, 85, of Hager City, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St.Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born August 27, 1926 in Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin to Herman and Mae (Muhlhausen) Reeck. He graduated from Prescott High School and enlisted in the US Army in December of 1944, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his time in the service, he drove bus and was employed at Marigold Dairies in Red Wing. On May 29, 1949, he married Marion Oliver and they made their home in Hager City. He had worked as a salesperson for many years until he began working at Josten's, from where he retired. Vernon was a member of Bay City Legion, Prescott VFW and Diamond Bluff Methodist Church. For many years he had dressed as Santa Claus during Christmas time at the Bay City Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and greatly enjoyed visiting and socializing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Randy) Carlson of Red Wing; son, Barry (Jill) Reeck of Hager City; four grandchildren, Alyssa and Erik Carlson and Corie and Toby Reeck and his special friend, Hermina Alms of Red Wing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion in 1983, and his brother, Roger Reeck.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Dar Reeck officiating. Burial will be at Diamond Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
