Vernon Frances Markham

Vernon F. Markham, age 91, of Oronoco, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Zumbrota Health Services. He was born on September 9, 1921, in Marion Township, Olmsted County, to Bernie and Mabel (Stoppel) Markham, where he grew up until moving to a farm in Oronoco township with his family. On August 30, 1945 he married Eunice I. Morris.
Farming was Vernon's life, and he always carried pliers in his pocket ready to fix things. He enjoyed traveling, and loved visiting with family and friends.
Vernon is survived by his wife Eunice of 67 years; daughter, Susan (Richard) Hareldson; sons, Laverne (Jackie) Markham, John (Mickey) Markham all of Oronoco; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard (Betty) Markham of Rochester, Leon (Virginia) Markham of Mantorville; sister-in-law, Hazel Markham of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester with Pastor Julie Beck officiating. Fellowship will follow the service at the Presbyterian Church in Oronoco. Memorials are preferred to the church.
