Vernon A. Johnson

Vernon A. Johnson, 82, of Cannon Falls, formerly of Burnsville, died Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born February 1, 1936 in Clarkfield, Minn. to Arthur and Leona (Hartliep) Johnson. He graduated from Clarkfield High School. On July 9, 1966 he married Delores Nelsen. He worked at Fingerhut in Benson, Minn. and farmed in the DeGraff area. They moved to Alexandria where he farmed until moving to Burnsville in 1986. He drove truck for Olson Trucking in Rosemount until retiring 10 years ago. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves. He often visited and had lunch with friends along with checking on how the crops were doing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, Jay (Anita) Johnson, Randy (Tricia) Johnson, Steve (Angie) Johnson and Lisa (Chris) Klomps; nine grandchildren; one brother, Jim Johnson; two sisters, Ginny Pratt, Arda (Lee) Nelsen and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother Ken Johnson and one sister, June Johnson.
Memorial service will 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018, at River Valley Church, Apple Valley Campus, 14898 Energy Way, Apple Valley 55124. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Pleasant Memorial Gardens in Burnsville. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
