Vernon M. Bjorngaard

Vernon M. "Lars" Bjorngaard age 83 of Zumbrota died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Zumbrota Health Services. The memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Vernon Melroy Bjorngaard was born on October 17, 1929 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to Ned and Tomina (nee Grove) Bjorngaard. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On July 8, 1960 he married Darlene Doering at Lands Lutheran Church. They farmed in Roscoe Township until retiring in 1985. They continued to live on the farm until 2005 when they moved into Zumbrota. Vernon enjoyed playing cards, dancing and his pets, especially his dogs. He was a lifelong member of Lands Lutheran Church.
Vernon is survived by his son, Brent (Karen) Bjorngaard of Zumbrota; granddaughter, Brytton Bjorngaard of Spokane, WA; brother, Norman (Joan) Bjorngaard of Wanamingo and sisters, Loretta Broas, Rose Durhman and Sharon Bjorngaard all of Zumbrota.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; son, Bradley; brother, Joel Bjorngaard and sister, Thelma Bjorngaard.
Memorials are preferred to Lands Lutheran Church.
