Verneil Lydia Lemmerman, 89, of Red Wing, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Red Wing Health Center. She was born August 20, 1918 in Featherstone Township to William and Clara (Muhlman) Huebner. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek and also attended parochial school there. On June 12, 1937, she married Arthur Lemmerman. They lived on a farm in Hay Creek until moving to a farm near Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin. They moved from the farm to Elderwood Heights and then back to Hay Creek. Verneil worked at Allyn's Bakery as well as St. John's Hospital and the Seminary Home as a nurses' aide. She was also a home health aide for Goodhue County. Arthur died June 27, 1982. She wove rugs and her hobbies were playing cards and visiting shut-ins. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by 2 sons, Jerry (Jann) Lemmerman of Port Orange, Florida and James (Harla) Lemmerman of Duluth; 1 granddaughter, Cheri Winberg of Hager City; a brother, Wallace Huebner of Rochester; a sister, Arleen (Milton) Holey of Kasson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be at Hay Creek Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike and David Holey. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
