Verna Anna Larson, 94 of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Red Wing died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at her home in Colorado. Verna was born July 7, 1918 to Peter and Louise (Dicke) Voth in Benedict, N.D. The family later moved to Red Wing where she graduated from Central High School. She worked for four years at the Goodhue County Courthouse. On October 4, 1941 she married Harold Larson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Haycreek, Minn. For five years she worked for the Minnesota State Employment Service. She then spent the next 20 years working as an administrative secretary for the Minnesota Correctional Facility. She retired in 1983. Harold died on March 5, 2005. Verna was an active member of First Covenant Church. She loved flowers, music, reading and homemaking.
Verna is survived by two children, Joyce Hansen of Littleton, Colo. and Jim (Mary) Larson of Grapevine, Texas; five grandchildren, Kristine (Mike) Larson-Braverman of Glen Rock, N.J., Patrick Larson of McKinney, Texas, Kandace (David) Hummel of Westfield, Ind., Deborah (Michael) Mock-Arndt of Centennial, Colo., Katherine (Chris) Huxtable of Castle Rock, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; son-in-law, Ken Hansen; her siblings; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2013 at First Covenant Church in Red Wing, with Rev. Timothy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the charitable organization of the donor's choice.
