Verlyn (Arnold) Bursell
Verlyn Wilma (Arnold) Bursell, 84, of Red Wing, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born January 9, 1931, in Perrysburg, Ohio to William and Edna (Schram) Brown. Her family moved to Minnesota and she graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1949. She married Rolland Arnold in 1949 and together they had three boys. They later divorced. She worked at St. John's Hospital, Ralston Purina, Rivera Cabinets and Josten's. In November of 1986, she married Arlen Bursell. As a young girl, Verlyn enjoyed roller skating and as she grew up she enjoyed dancing, playing cards-especially bridge, reading and having coffee and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Arlen died in 2005 and she lived in her own home until moving to Deercrest in 2013.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Jeanne) Arnold of Eau Claire, WI, David (Mary) Arnold of Shelbyville, TN and William (Cindy) Arnold of Frontenac; 7 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death a sister, Zeita Featherstone and her husband Arlen Bursell.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Red Wing Hospice.
