Verleen Ruth Buck

Verleen Ruth Buck, 91, passed away on June 13, 2021, with family by her side

Verleen was born January 19, 1930, in Zumbrota Village, Goodhue County, to Henry and Emilie (Diercks) Banitt. She was baptized January 30, 1930, and confirmed April 2, 1944, both by Reverend Paul E. Horn. Growing up in Zumbrota, she graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1948. On June 22, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Buck at Christ Lutheran Church by Pastor Herbert F. Muenkel. Together Verleen and Kenneth farmed for 39 years and raised four sons, Michael, David, Allen, and Brian.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church all her life, taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Ladies’ Aid. She enjoyed family, dancing, camping, and boating. In her later years she kept busy with woodwork finishing.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Buck, sons and daughters-in-law; Michael (Marcia), David (Kathy), Allen (Renae), and Brian (Becky); grandchildren: Ann (Chris) McIntosh, Jeff (Diana) Buck, Jon (Jamie) Buck, Kory (Beth) Buck, Aimee (Matthew) Phillips, Brett (Carley) Buck, Kyle Buck, Angela (Mike) Matiash, Matthew (Suparada) Buck, Emily (Tim) Frank, Jennifer (Ben) Lindquist; great-grandchildren: Alivia and Kellen McIntosh, Heidi and Daniel Buck, Charlotte and Lila Buck, Samuel Buck, Aaron, Caleb, Annalise, and Emmalyn Matiash, Madison Buck, Carson and Summer Frank, Jackson and Noah Lindquist; sister-in-law Kay Banitt, brother-in-law Mathias Buck, and several nieces and nephews.

Verleen was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Emilie Banitt, sisters and brothers-in-law; Ardelle (John) Matthees and Deyonne (Melroy) Broin, brother Elden Banitt and great-grandson Maxwell.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Visitation will begin at 10:00, and the funeral will follow at 11:00. Lunch will be served. Please join us.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church, Zumbrota, or Mayo Clinic Dementia Care Studies.
