Vera Hielscher

Vera Eleanor Hielscher, age 90 of Red Wing, died on March 27, 2012 at her home at Potter Ridge. She was born on February 19, 1922 in Wabasha to Andrew and Mary (Theismann) Dick. She graduated from St. Felix High School in Wabasha. On June 11, 1946 she married George Hielscher in Wabasha. They farmed near Red Wing for many years and she worked as an in home health aide and did volunteer work. They moved to Florida where they lived for fifteen years before moving back to Red Wing in 1993. They resided at Jordan Towers. George died on September 26, 2002. For the past several years she has lived at Potter Ridge. She enjoyed crocheting, going out to eat, her four legged grandkids, and dancing. She was a member of the Church of Saint Joseph and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Women's Auxiliary

Vera is survived by her two daughters, Georgene (William) Benson and Katie (Daryl) Kuhl both of Red Wing; five grandchildren, Bobbie Ann Benson, Loren (Kathleen) Benson, Chris (Naomi) Benson, Nicholas and Nicole Kuhl; five great grandchildren; four brothers, Don "Swede" (Sharon) Dick of Wabasha, Erv Dick of Lake City, Edward (Shirley) Dick of Eagan, Leo (Lucille) Dick of Wabasha; and one sister, Marne (Harry) Lager of Wabasha. She is preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, John, Robert, Thomas, Dennis; one sister, Fran Lager and her cat Sonja.

Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Chapel in Red Wing and one hour prior to the service at the church.
