Trevor Dettmer

d. October 25, 2006

Trevor Joyce Dettmer, 17, of Zumbro Falls and formerly of Red Wing, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at his home. He was born August 6, 1989 in Red Wing, to Daniel and Debra (Berg) Dettmer. He attended Concordia Lutheran parochial school through the 8th grade and then attended Red Wing High School. His family moved from Red Wing to the family farm in Zumbro Falls this past summer. As a senior this year, he commuted to Red Wing for school, attending the Tower View Campus of the Red Wing High School. Trevor enjoyed helping his father with things outside and spent his summers helping him on the farm. Driving was always fun for Trevor, especially when he got to drive his parent?s Cadillac, as one could see from the giant smile or sometimes ?smirk? on his face as you passed him on the road. Four-wheeling was also something he enjoyed, as well as deer hunting and skateboarding. In the summer of 2003, he traveled with the Concordia Lutheran Youth Group on a hiking and camping trip to the Grand Canyon and in 2004 went to Flordia for a Youth Gathering with them. Trevor had a loving family, and two older sisters, whom he learned to tease and taunt through the years. He is survived by his parents, Dan and Deb of Zumbro Falls; two sisters, Melanie Dettmer of Plymouth and Nikki (David Linder) Dettmer of Frontenac; a niece, Chloe Linder; maternal grandparents, Skeeter (Elaine) Berg of Mazeppa and great-grandmother, Irene Sable of Mazeppa and great-grandfather, Lyall Berg of New Richland, Minn.; a special friend, Emily Wiech of Lake City; aunts and uncles, Larry (Diana) Dettmer of Lake City; Denise (Bob) Poncelet, Dennis (Colleen) Berg, DeAnn (Mike) Horsman, Delane (Jon) Liffrig all of Mazeppa and Daryl (Judy) Berg of Wabasha; numerous cousins and his Godmother, Virginia Gruhlke of Zumbro Falls. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Delaine Dettmer; one aunt, Aileen Hyke, one uncle, Dean Berg; great-grandparents, Fred Sable, Marie Berg, and Claus and Frieda Dettmer; and his Godfather, Joyce Gruhlke. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Red Wing, with Reverend Ron Stehr officiating. Burial will be at the Mazeppa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his uncles, Larry Dettmer, Bob Poncelet, Dennis Berg, Mike Horsman, Jon Liffrig and Daryl Berg. Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to donor?s choice.
