Tom A. Harwood

Graveside services for Tom Harwood will be held Tuesday July 14th at 11:00 AM at the Sumner Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Chatfield. The Rev. Christopher Culuris will officiate. Mr. Harwood, 80, of Kenyon, died Thursday July 9, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary's Campus, in Rochester.
Tom A. Harwood was born June 15, 1935 in Chatfield, the son of Carroll and Carrie (Balcome) Harwood. He married Lynda Garnatz on December 28, 1963, and the couple later divorced. Formerly of Spring Valley and Preston, Tom moved to Kenyon in 2007 to be closer to his daughter. He was employed as a cement hauler for La Crescent Ready Mix in Spring Valley, and also worked as a farm hand. He retired due to declining health.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Gene) Bang of Kenyon; a son, Troy (Danielle) Harwood of Spring Valley; eight grandchildren, Adam and Sarah Bang, Aric Bang, Alysha Bang, Jordynn Tart, Alexys Harwood, Ashlyn Harwood, and Brantley Harwood; and a sister, Portia Harwood of Minneapolis. Also surviving are a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
