A memorial service for Tom Harold Burdette Avery will be held Sunday July 20, at 3:00 p.m. at Meadow Park Church of Christ in Rochester. The Pastor Aaron Wager will officiate. Mr. Avery, 86, of West Concord died Tuesday July 15th at the Kenyon Sunset Home due to complications of renal disease following 10 years of dialysis. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery.

Tom Avery was born to Harold and Calista (Nelson) Avery in Concord Township, Dodge County, on April 26, 1922. He attended West Concord High School. In 1938 he started a trucking firm hauling cattle with his father. He began earth moving with heavy machinery in 1949, retiring in 1989. He married Margaret Hovey in June 1946. She died later that year. He married Maxine Voxland on September 7, 1947. Mr. Avery owned a John Deere dealership in West Concord from 1956-1960. In later years he enjoyed going to estate auctions, buying and selling collectable toys. He was a member of Meadow Park Church of Christ in Rochester, and was a founding member of the West Concord Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of West Concord; sons, Kent (Diana Grant) of Corona, California, Ross (Rebecca) of Riverside, California, Dean (Janice) of Bloomfield, Iowa, Leon (Deborah) of West Concord, Minnesota, Neal (Kelly) of Mission Viejo, California; daughters, Iris Clark (Dale) Neumann of Eyota, Minnesota, and Beth (Breck) Avery Dokken of Polk City, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, and a brother.

Friends may call Saturday 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Rochester Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
