Thomas Peter Ryan

Thomas Peter Ryan, 78, of Pine Island, died Saturday August 6, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born on July 22, 1933, in Hastings, MN, the son of Margaret (Coen) and Howard "Jack" Ryan. Thomas graduated from Pine Island schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he worked at Iwen Box and Lumber Company for a short period of time before he started working at IBM until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting antiques, garage sales, and snowmobiling.

Thomas is survived by two sisters, Patricia Christensen of Pine Island, Gertrude McAtee of Indianapolis, IN; six nieces Joy Alexander, Brenda Christensen, Lisa Britton, Barb McAtee, Teresa Postier, Nancy Breen; two nephews, Steven and David Postier; great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Postier; one nephew, Michael Christensen; two great-nephews, Brad and Ryan Postier.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Reverend Randal Kasel presiding. Visitation will be 5-8 pm, with a rosary at 7:30 pm Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Mahler Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
