ROCHESTER The funeral for Thomas "Tom" Pralle will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Rev.'s John Torris Lohre and Kip Groettum officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Mr. Pralle, 75, of Rochester, formerly of Pine Island, a retired systems analyst for the Mayo Clinic, died Thursday (Apr. 9, 2009) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Thomas Dale Pralle was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Cheyenne, WY to Rev. Henry E. and Edna (Rasmann) Pralle. He grew up in Nebraska and graduated from high school in Arapahoe, NE in 1951. He then attended St. John's Junior College in Winfield, KS. He then served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He completed his Bachelor's degree in education from Hastings College in Hastings, NE and taught mathematics for two years. He received his Masters degree in education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. On Dec. 6, 1964 he married Winifred "Winnie" Beulke in St. Paul, MN. He worked for the Control Data Corporation for eight years in Dallas, TX. He moved to Rochester in 1971 where he was a Systems Analyst for the Mayo Clinic, retiring in 2000. He had lived in Pine Island from 1978 to 1988 when he moved back to Rochester. He was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island where he sang in the choir and served on the Church Council, and was a member of the Pine Island Lions Club having served in various offices. He enjoyed the family sailboat in Lake City for thirty-five years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey (Sara) of Wheaton, IL; and James (Chris) of Horace, ND; two grandchildren Cydney, and Jameson, a grandchild due in September; three sisters, Janice and Jane Pralle of Lincoln, NE; and Judy (Leroy) Johnson of Grand Island, NE; and a brother Jerry of York, NE. A son Daniel preceded him in death in 1985.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, and one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Saint Paul Lutheran Church.
