Thomas McNary

Thomas Leo McNary, 71, of Red Wing, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 19, 1936 in Kellogg, Minnesota to Thomas and Eleanor (Gage) McNary and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Carol Graner on Sept. 16, 1961 at Immanuel Conception Church in rural Kellogg. They lived in Wabasha for a year and then moved to Red Wing. They later divorced. He worked as an electrician at various placesâ€â₝working at the Red Wing Correctional Facility his last 25 years of his career. He also worked as an independent electrical worker on the side and continued to do electrical work after retiring. He was a past member of the Knight's of Columbus and had been on numerous bowling leagues; he was also a member of the BPOE #845 and the IBEW. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed visiting with friends at the Pantry restaurant.

He is survived by 4 children, James (Cheryl) McNary of Cannon Falls, William (Donna) McNary of DeForest, Wisc., David (Bonnie) McNary of Hastings and Brenda Ann McNary of Medford, Wisc.; 8 grandchildren; 5 sisters, Lorraine Johnson of LaCrosse, Wisc., Rose Ann Zgoda of Albert Lea, Mary (Don) Schouweiler of Kellogg, Maxine (Victor) Feliciano of Charleston, SC, Geraldine (Dave) Roundy of St. Paul and one brother, Richard (Mitchiko) McNary of Dayton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth McNary.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg with Father Glenn Frerichs officiating. Burial at a later date will be at the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Rachael, Megan, Nicole, Stephanie, Sara, Erin, Cody and Callie McNary. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to American Heart Association or the Diabetes's Association.
