Thomas Brady Kolberg, age 79, of Red Wing, died Sunday at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on November 9, 1928, in Red Wing, to Almer and Edith (Haller) Kolberg. He was a 1947 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. He married Marion Diercks on September 14, 1956, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek. He worked for forty-eight years for Pittsburgh Plate Glass/ Archer Daniels Midland, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as financial secretary and trustee. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking care of his lawn and having a clean car.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; two children, Brad Kolberg of Red Wing and Lori (Paul) Reding of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Kristin, Jason and Kelsey Reding; his twin brother, James (Joyce) of Granada Hills, Calif.; six sisters, Gwen (Wayne) Thomforde of Goodhue, Norma Thomforde of Goodhue, Dorothy (Wallace) Jagusch of Red Wing, Pat (Jerry) Borgen of Red Wing, Sue (Merl) Hokenstrom of Winona, and Sandra Thompson of Collegeville, Penn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Byron.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church Hay Creek with Reverends Lowell Sorenson and Victor Meyr officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwight Diercks, Jeff Kolberg, David Borgen, Miles Jagusch, Henry and Steven Thomforde and Nathan Flatten. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristin, Jason and Kelsey Reding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or the donor's choice.
