Thomas H. Harvey, age 79, of Lake City, Minnesota passed away February 23, 2008 at his home.
Thomas was born May 18, 1928 in Rochester, Michigan to Clarence & Flossie (Renshaw) Harvey. He grew up in Rochester, MI . Serving in the Army from 1948 - 1952 with the 503rd Army Corps of Engineers, he assisted in the construction of runways for the Berlin Airlift in Germany. He married Patricia Miller on August 29, 1953 They lived in Rochester where he worked for the City of Birmingham and was self employed. They moved to East Tawas, MI in 1968 where he was employed by Tawas Area Schools, then the US Postal Service. He also owned his own janitorial business. He retired from the post office in 1997, moving to Webster, FL where they resided until moving to Lake City, MN in 2005. He had a great love of trains and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City and he was a lifetime member VFW.
Tom was survived by his wife, Pat, two daughters, Kris (Jerry) Abidin of Lake City, MN; Anne Senter of Virginia Beach, VA; son, John (Sherry) Harvey of Brighton, MI; three grandchildren, Sherry Senter, Jordan Harvey and Patrick Senter; one step-grandchild; and three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roger Harvey; and a step-grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be May 16, 2008 at 10:30 am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling Nation Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City.
