Thomas S. Farrell

July 20, 1958 — January 22, 2021

Esdaile, WI

Thomas Shane Farrell, 62, of Esdaile, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 22, 2021, at his home.  He was born on July 20, in Polk County, Iowa to Jack and Patricia (Glynn) Farrell.  He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1976 and then attended Red Wing Vo-Tech for the HVAC program. On July 16, 1977, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Raynee Funk, and they have lived in the beautiful valley of Esdaile since 1977.  He worked a few years as a plumber and electrician then owned and operated Esdaile Connections from 2000-2008.  He worked for Matt’s Electric in Ellsworth and more recently at the St. James Hotel as a maintenance tech.

He enjoyed gunsmithing, target shooting, hunting prairie dogs and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He operated Boar Bros Hog Roasting alongside his best friend, Roger Billeter, for many local events for friends and family. Their proudest event was FRG Family Day for the 652nd Engineering Company in 2008. He co-hosted the Annual Farrell Chili Feed with his wife at their home in Esdaile, even though every year he said it would be the last. Last Spring was the 23rd Annual Chili Feed and Tom had a good time. He enjoyed going to concerts and especially seeing ZZ Top or Jimmy Buffet. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors, working around the house, tinkering in his garage, giving golf cart rides, building jenga bonfires, helping his neighbors and being called BaPa Tom by his grandkids.

Tom is survived by his wife, Raynee; three children, Kyle (Buena) Farrell of Ellsworth, Corey (Anna) Farrell of Bay City and Heather (Chase) Melstrom of Ellsworth; six grandchildren, Jazamyn, Kennedy, Audrey, Sarah, Fenwick and Everett; two brothers, Mike (JoAnn) Farrell of Bay City and Kevin (Genevieve) Farrell of Burleson,TX; two sisters, Patricia (Jerri Thomas) Farrell of Swannanoa NC and Mary (Gary) Cottrell of River Falls, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Art and Jane Funk.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
