Thomas John Decker, 49, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Red Wing, died Monday, Sept. 14, at his parent's home in Red Wing. He was born May 12, 1960 in Red Wing to Jack and Ardell (Kann) Decker. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and was a 1978 graduate of Red Wing Central High. He graduated from Albert Lea Technical College in 1980. He most recently was employed at Coots Materials in Vinton, Iowa and prior to that he was employed by Luhman Construction in Welch. He was an avid toy tractor collector and was a member of a toy tractor club in Dyersville, Iowa. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by one son, Ryan Harris of Glenwood City, Wis.; his parents of Red Wing; one brother, Garret Decker of Red Wing and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister; his grandparents; 2 aunts and 2 uncles.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept 18 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Christine Engstrom officiating. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
